It Is Busy Here

I’ve finished one of my Mysterious Green Socks but I haven’t had a chance to take a proper picture of it.  Here is a progress shot of it, sans the toe, and in the car.  Pardon the terrible-ocity of it, I took it on my phone:

I finished it on Saturday.  It turned out really lovely, but I’m having a bout of second sock syndrome.  Even though it fits okay, I’m still hung up on the teeny tiny gusset.  I feel like it would fit better if I’d made the heel flap an extra repeat longer.  Meh!  Hopefully I can make myself start the second one soon, because it really is pretty, and it needs a mate.

Also on Saturday, I got a pretty skein of Malabrigo Worsted from my aunt.  It’s reddish-pinkish-maroonish… very accidentally Valentine’s Day.  I’m using it to make Quest (the cloche version) from the new Knitty.  I’m through the increases… and it’s now being put on hold until I can get the right size circular needles.  Boo.

In non-knitterly, I’ve been pretty busy with classes recently.  They’re all really reading-heavy, and they’re taking up a big chunk of my knitting/pattern writing time.  Ha.  Aaaaand, I’ve also had a couple interviews for a job!  (FINALLY!  YAY!!)  I should know for absolutely sure by the end of this week whether I got it or not.  Cross your fingers for me!

Opinions… I Need Them!

Quite a while back, I made this:

A teeny tiny sock on its own teeny tiny sock blocker.  It’s been living on my keys ever since I made it.  My question is, if you saw one on Etsy, would you buy it?  Is it something you would see and decide to make yourself?  Or is it just super lame?

Being the rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth sock knitter that I am, I think it’s awesome.  It’s hilarious, and small, and cute, and I like to think that other rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth sock knitters would like it too.  Or any knitters, really.  Heck, even non-knitters.  It is small and cute, after all.  With all the sock yarn I have — leftover and otherwise — I could make a ton of these.  But before I get started, I want to know…  What do you think?  Yay or nay?

I Like Socks

I’ve started the second pair of socks in my Knit-Down-My-Sock-Yarn-Stash-Challenge™.  So far, they are going well:

They’re the Through The Loops Socktoberfest 2009 mystery socks.  The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in Lettuce.  I love the pattern so far (especially the cuff!) and they’re turning out nicely.  I’m a little concerned that they might be too small in the ankle, but I’m going to work past the gusset before I decide to rip back.  I don’t like ripping back!

I’m working on writing up an official pattern for a hat I made a while back… A very cabley beret, specifically.  Hopefully I’ll have that done tonight and ready to post by tomorrow.  Keep yer peepers peeled for it!

A Resolution Of Sorts

A few days ago, I made a list of New Year’s resolutions. This is very out of character for me, as I am a notorious New-Year’s-resolution-breaker. But for whatever reason, I decided on a whim to make a list of things. Very fun and interesting things that I very much want to and can do.

One item on the list? Knit more socks. Which I believe is good and reasonable. Also, I was sorting through my yarn bins yesterday, and dang, dudes… I have a lot more sock yarn than I thought.

Like whoa. Full on Joey Lawrence-style whoa. I’m contemplating doing a self-imposed sock of the month club ala Yarn Harlot to get through it. There’s definitely enough there for that!

Not pictured up there is one skein of Knit Picks Stroll Handpainted that was on needles becoming socks when I took the picture. It has turned into these:

Yarn: Knit Picks Stroll Handpainted in Juice Box
Pattern: Sunday Swing by Kristel Nyberg (with eye of partridge heel flap)
Needles: Harmony wood DPNs, US #2 2.75mm
Verdict: OW, MY RETINAS!!

These are SO. BRIGHT. But I love them :D The pattern is very simple to follow and the end effect is pretty interesting. I think the yarn might be a little too busy even for the simple pattern though — the lace gets lost in the eye-searing goodness. All told, they’re a great start to keeping my resolution.

What should I make next??
